CORN

Corn is a major crop in the Hudson Valley. It is an excellent heating fuel when used in conjunction with a quality stove designed specifically to burn it. When economical we carry whole kernel corn that is dried to a level that is consistent with stove manufactures recommendations. Not all corn is alike. High moisture content, excessive sugar levels, high levels of fines can foul and/or reduce the efficiency of your stove. We have forged relationships with area farms who have decades of corn growing and storing experience. These relationships allow us to offer a quality product, while helping the local economy. However, over the last year corn prices have skyrocketed, due in the most part to its extensive use in the production of Ethanol. But even at these historic price levels, corn is still a very economical heat source compared to fossil fuels like Electric, Fuel Oil, and Propane.
