Fireplace Accessories
Screens, tools and the pieces that dress a hearth and keep it safe.
What does an open fireplace actually need?
A screen first, because an open fire throws sparks. Then a tool set for managing logs and ash, a hearth rug to catch what gets past the screen, and somewhere to keep wood. Andirons and bellows are the traditional additions rather than the necessary ones.

Fireplace Accessories questions
Do I need a fireplace screen?
For an open fire, yes. It is the one accessory that is about safety rather than convenience — an open fireplace throws sparks, and a screen is what keeps them off the floor and the furniture.
What do andirons do?
They hold the logs clear of the hearth floor so air can get underneath the fire, which helps it burn. They are also the traditional look for an open fireplace, which is the other half of why people buy them.
Do you stock stove accessories too?
Yes — stove and pipe thermometers, moisture meters and stove fans are all here. The split between this page and the stove accessories page is about emphasis rather than stock.
