Electric fireplace questions

Do you just plug in an electric fireplace?

An electric fireplace needs no flue and no gas line, which is why it can go in rooms where wood or gas would mean building work. Power requirements vary by model, so check the one you are looking at before you plan where it goes.

Is an electric fireplace worth it?

It depends what you want from it. If the room has no chimney and no gas, electric is the one option that does not involve construction. If you want it as a heat source rather than a focal point, wood and gas give more, and both keep working in a power cut — wood on its own, gas with battery backup.

What is the downside of an electric fireplace?

It stops when the power does. A wood fire needs no electricity unless you add the fan option, and gas keeps running through an outage on battery backup, which in this part of the Hudson Valley is a real consideration. Electric wins on where it can be installed, not on resilience.

Which electric fireplace looks the most realistic?

That is genuinely a thing to judge in person rather than from a photograph, and it is why we have them lit in the showroom. We carry DaVinci and FPX electric collections — come and look at both before deciding.
