What does a wood insert do that an open fireplace does not?
It stops the heat going up the chimney. A wood insert converts the fireplace into a high-efficiency appliance: more heat into the room, longer burn times, and better distribution through the house. The sealed firebox also contains sparks and emissions.

What a wood insert gives you
Increases heat output and reduces the heat lost up the chimney.
Burns wood more efficiently, giving longer burn times and better heat distribution.
A sealed firebox contains sparks and emissions rather than letting them loose.
More complete combustion improves indoor air quality.
Decorative glass doors and finishes, so it suits the room it sits in.
Before you buy: three things we need
- Download and fill in the measurement guide
Open the guide, print it, and fill it in. It asks for the dimensions we need to tell you what will actually fit your opening.
- Take pictures
Photograph the inside and the outside of your fireplace, and the chimney from outside. Those images let us understand the setup and offer options that suit it.
- That is it
Bring the completed form to the showroom. Your salesperson will give you their email address so you can send the pictures across.

Wood Inserts questions
What is a wood insert?
A sealed, high-efficiency firebox that fits inside an existing open fireplace. It converts a fireplace that mostly sends heat up the chimney into a heating appliance that puts it into the room instead.
How do I know what will fit my fireplace?
Download our measurement guide, fill it in, and take photographs of the inside and outside of the fireplace plus the chimney from outside. Those two things tell us what will actually go in before you are shown anything.
Can I put a wood burning insert into my existing fireplace?
Yes — that is exactly what an insert is for. It is a sealed firebox designed to fit inside a masonry fireplace you already have. What decides it is the dimensions of your opening, which is why we ask for the measurement guide and photographs first.
Does a wood insert need electricity?
Only if it has the fan option. The fire itself burns without power, so it keeps heating through an outage — the main reason to choose wood in a house that loses power in winter. Add the optional fan to push heat further into the room and that part does need power. Ask us about the specific unit.
